This article is a joke surely. The main reason NBN needs TLS is not for the obvious savings in usung TLS ducts etc for the roll out but because a protracted price war between two fixed line providers would guarentee massive losses for the NBN. TLS has nothing to lose keeping their copper wire prices just under the NBN pricing for years as people already hooked up and not interested in paying more for speed they just wont/cannot use stay with TLS. The 'free market' economics of the NBN are doubtful when they are a monopoly fixed line provider let alone in protracted competition. Then again there is probably legislation the Gov can ram through that requires TLS to close down the wire network as the fibre gets installed...lol
