nbn investment - bandwidth needed?

Here's a question, what is a breakdown of how we will use our 100Mbps NBN for at home? Can we dream of something we need that could not be done over 10Mbps?

The word is we need this NBN as an investment in our future or we are stuffed right? Well from some interested parties it is, and we get statements like:

'The NBN will open up opportunities for business to reach new markets as well as enhancing access to education and in-home health care, she said. "The NBN can also assist in keeping people in their homes longer, freeing up hospital beds and improving their quality of life by not having to move into an aged care facility when they just need monitoring."'

So this implies without the 100Mb NBN these things are not possible? I don't see how home monitoring is requiring this. Even HD video conferencing only requires 2Mbps I thought.

In a previous post I lamented on how each previous jump in bandwidth since 300bps was preceded by the dream of what I would do with this new speed, but I am lost for dreams here on what to do with NBN:

So here is a thread to submit some examples of bandwith calculations to dream on and stop me being put off by all the politically charged statements that see so deceptive.
