Assuming that 2Mbps for HD video conferencing is correct. Then if you are video conferencing with 5 locations at once, you will reach the 10Mbps (also assuming that the whole 10Mbps is available).

How much bandwidth would be require for :-
HD TV services over the internet (for each TV per household),
a quality video telephone service (VOIP),
remote business and personal computer management and services,
    security monitoring,
virtual classes, lectures and study groups,
    business activities,
keeping in touch with distant family,
    entertainment pursuits,
    downloading Blu Ray movies,
    medical applications,
    etc.

Yes, 10Mbps may do any one of the above, but how many of these can 10Mbps handle well at the same time?

How the internet is used today is not going to be the same in 10 or 20 years.
The same as the internet was used 10 to 20 years ago compared to the way it is used today.

The NBN is not about a single user at a time, nor is it about a single application at a time, neither is it about what is barely adequate for today's average internet users.

It is about multiple users at a time, multiple applications at the same time, and it is about tomorrow's average user.

8 to 10 years to build Australia's future.
