Simply put, fixed line internet to the home will be outdated as technology and us advance to being connected where and whenever we are. If you see the future as we all running home to get our fast NBN downloads each time we need it is absolutely ludicrous. The NBN is a waste of money to the home. This money should be used to build a nation-wide infrastructure of wireless internet towers. This won't happen overnight as the mobile phone companies would lose out. Mobile data is only expensive because they make it expensive.

Skype disrupted the telco industry with free international calls forcing telcos to drastically drop their charges. 5G and future tech is going to force NBN and such to do the same.
