NBN rollout not loosening Telstra's grip on market

Here's some of the key bits -

As much as Telstra boss Andy Penn talks up a short fall in earnings caused by the loss of his fat fixed-line profit margins, his company is playing the market well and increasing market share.

The latest ACCC figures out today show the company has 59 per cent of fibre-to-the-node connections and 48 per cent of fibre-to-the-premises.

Overall market share over the year has edged up from 47.1 per cent to 49.3 per cent.

The closest rival, TPG, has seen its share ease slightly from 26.8 per cent to 24 per cent, while Optus’s share has increased slightly from 12.8 to 13.6 per cent.

Given recent released numbers shown that NBN has 1.7mil customers (who has taken up service from 4mil connected to the network), that still implies a close to 50 market share. In my opinion this is a quiet achiever.... bought some more yesterday at the close.
