If any service provider is providing a better service than Telstra then chances are they are less profitable as it'd cost them more per customer for this shared bandwidth. This is partially the reason why tpg and vocus share prices tumbled as people realised what moving across to NBN means to their profitability - they no longer get the free ride like they did on the Telstra network (thanks to ACCC).
