The thing is, a project like this was always going to be a massive undertaking with delays and costs blowouts. That's why you do it right the first time with a relatively future-proof, easily-upgradable FTTP system.
The Abbott/Turnbull Fraudband "Multi-Technology Mix" has given us a system that's just as capex-heavy (if not more) and slow to roll out as FTTP, obsolete on arrival, and will take twice as much to fix again in a few years (no doubt by Labor).
