    NIC is a $3bn market cap and tshingshan had to sell off the holding to support funding of the margin call.

    I would be surprised if NC1 has been sold down for the same reason. my guess is the risk is high that nickel price if remaining elevated will push EVs away from NCM811 in favour of solid state nickel free batteries. these high capex laterite mines will be less in favour and wouldn't get out of the ground if EV makers move away from nickel. just a guess.
