Given the current state of the US economy, the Fed is likely to up rates multiple times this year with one looking like it will be sooner than later. While the Aus gold price won't be as affected, gold is a hedge asset with stability returning prices will drop along with AUD but more than likely Gold will drop in a greater proportion thus resulting in a drop in gold mining shares e.g. Newcrest
