If I ponder some more (and after looking at other shares in the sector), don't you think it interesting that most of the other stocks have already had pushes over last couple of weeks, and these two stocks BOTH came off their lows yesterday and today have pushed about the same amount.
I wonder if they would let two companies of this size merge. Who knows.
