Hmmm...the terminology for both is ...
LONG ... Holding any position that will profit from a rising market.
SHORT ... Holding any position that will profit from a falling market.
Usually terms related to the derivatives markets ...
NWS closed up 4.67% overnight and NCP here looking oversold ... so some consider a rally possible which equates to a rising market.
A simple example are those who have bought CALLS and/or written PUTS are considered LONG in the market ... and conversely bought PUTS and/or written CALLS considered SHORT in the market ...
