Case in point. Participants under the ndis get a plan. It can be for a year or 2 in length.
The schads award which is what disability workers fall under had a 9% pay increase as of July 1 2022.
To keep thinks simple , say a participant was provided with 10 hours a week of support. It is then calculated and the plan is built. Now when the award went up by 9% the government announced that to keep things the same , certain catagories of support will be indexed the extra 9% for the remaining $$ in the persons plan, so they will not lose supports due to the wage rise.
So again to keep it simple, a person would logically assume , that with the computers the Governmnet uses that say person A had $100 of support left as of July 1, then it will automatically be increased to $109 so gthat the same supports could be provided.

Hmmm NOPE. The provider can go onto the NDIS website and see the persons plan. From there its called update allocation. So the provider goes in and changes the $100 left and puts in $109.. Now some plans are very big, $1 mill plus. So the provider can then in those cases add $90K on top. I am aware of a mistake a person made that instead of adding Say $10 k they added 40 k , and it was accepted ... So if its that easy , then they raise an invoice and get paid ... That is how money can be rorted , and the provider in my opinion should NEVER be allowed to adjust the amount of a persons plan .

that is a joke.. govts have been shifting to outsourcing across all services and the costs / impacts this has in terms of what get for our dollar would make people weep but even these sort of things go to tender, if we're lucky..

what you just describe there would be the equivalent of say a civil contractor, simply logging in and increasing their bill by 10%.. there seems to be no accountability and it does appear to be one of the best 'rorts' going around..
