It's a good example of science being the solution to nearly all our problems (that's why we DON'T teach our kids STEM subjects of course, ha ha)

We'll just have to wait and see where the time / cost curves intersect and overlap.

The technology to utillise iron tailings is very embryonic though and our needs are more immediate. Conventional REE producers, even budding ones like ARU, will probably need to be well down the cost curve though in order to keep this and other technologies marginal.
