Its not shorters. Shorts have remained steady after initially locking in profits when the stock fall to $2. - good luck to them. They called in right on a risky play. No sensible shorter is shorting at these levels. I made money shorting Tesla on the takeover B/S in 2019 and whilst I closed out half, I got stopped out on rest on being an amateur and missing low.
Few informed shorters are going to short at these levels, this stock could so easily bounce. On last years exuberance it was a brave and risky play. MOst shorters, despite being hated on HC, are actually very risk averse savvy investors. I owned APT from IPO and also made good money shorting it too at $137-155.
As a guy who shorts on occassion, I can't see any rational shorter putting on a position here in MSB. The recent selling was far more likely weak holders and forced margin sellers, who've I little sympathy for if this stock spikes on a Novartis agreement or any other host of potential announcements as MJC73 points out.
