I can't believe it's been two weeks since my last post!
I started the year with the intention of posting every day but things get in the way and I find with blogging you go through patches of having lots to blog about followed by a week or two of well less to blog about. The last couple of weeks have been extremely busy - Board meeting, half year results, discussions with investors, budgets and crucially I spent last week on the East Coast meeting prospective candidates for our new Commercial Managers roles. I was on the road with Rob Newman who is a Director of ipernica and someone who I like and respect and who offers good advice and we had the opportunity to discuss a range of issues and had some good ideas which I will share along the way. We met lots of candidates and the good news is there is some good talent in the Spatial market and the very good news is we have identified two candidates in particular who we hope will be joining us in four weeks time. I can't name names just yet but they are heavyweight individuals who both Rob and I feel will take our sales activities to the next level - we will be getting broad experience from the on request and solution sales sectors from two big name companies in the sector and this will have an impact in terms of product and competitor intelligence, pricing, networking and being able to see prospects daily.
I am really excited about the calibre of these two individuals and what they will bring to nearmap.com in terms of helping us exceed our revenue goals- more details to follow hopefully this week. I am also really pleased that all our customers have renewed their contracts so far 7/7 ..that's a great reflection on our product but also the effort my team makes with limited resources to try and help our customers every day.
A final thought on the terrible tragedy in Christchurch - the devastation has been shocking and everyone in the company extends their sympathy and thoughts to those affected. It has also been frustrating as we know our product could have helped in the aftermath so we are redoubling our efforts to try and commence some surveying in New Zealand and I am meeting with a potential operator in a couple of weeks and also trying to connect with LINZ to see if we can assist.
