The short answer is no, my opinion hasn't changed. I've worked for 2 engineering consultancies in Aus and Nearmap is engrained in the culture of both companies. As far as I'm aware no one knows of any other company that does what NEA do and as good as they do it.
I'm not sure how much NEA costs but what is invaluable to those companies are:
    - the quality of aerial
    - the geo referencing
    - the ease of use
    - the time saving
    - historical data.
Any competitor would need to satisfy the 5 points above plus be substantially cheaper for companies to consider it. The thing with engineers is, once we find something we like, it's hard to deviate from it and Nearmap aerials is one of those tools.
On a personal note I'm so happy I bought into NEA a year earlier than that post. It wasn't without risk, but at least I knew how good the product was and how positive it was for my employers and our competitors.
Going by the increased business in the US it looks like businesses are understanding the benefits of NEA and hopefully it becomes engrained in their company culture too.
