re: sailorgirl: neck and neck in the sydney hobart lots of very high tech and expensive materials and technology in those boats and each year something better not so much bigger but faster comes along.
Still i guess for naval purposes this competition is good for engineers associated with yauthing - a bit like formula 1 car racing really.
