Its because these polls are relatively pointless. The polls are taken over all seats whereas we all know the election is one and lost in the marginal seats. Closer to the election the pollers will get further into the margnal seats.

Lets look at the seats labor will more than likely definately lose:

Thomson
Windsor
Oakshott

Thats a loss of 3 seats alone that they need to make up let alone win more!
