if the child is a teenager or younger, the majority of camera's in the mobile phones are as good or better, and should suit her fine just get a prepaid phone, minimum $10 value that is good for a year, and take as many photos as she likes
I assume they dont work if they are not connected to a network, or have no credit...someone else may correct this
I am a hobby photographer, spent big enough money on my equipment, yet I am amazed at the great photos all family and friends produce on their mobile phones and these are not big dollar phones, many are cheapies, pre paids...but wow
