I also don't love a lot of the virtue signalling from companies in general and think equal opportunity starts to become a little "over the top" when there's 50/50 gender employment requirements, but, as an investor, Rowena is using ASM to help stamp out actual discrimination and harassment. This can attract the talented females to ASM if they know they'll be properly protected from harassment. There is a big shortage of skilled people, so, this is a benefit and it's of critical importance to ASM as we start to prepare to construction of Dubbo in due time. But yes, the 50/50 gender employment requirement, that is where I feel that things get out of hand. If people could just be empathetic to others, treat each other respectfully and professionally, then we can focus on the job. At the rate we're going then some businesses will favor a female over a male and we'll start to see males trying to hide their gender just to get a job. I jest, but seriously, at some point human civilisation should aim to just be respectful to each other, without counting numbers, and focus on the job.
Until then, Rowena and ASM are doing the right thing.
