Not if iron prices are sitting at or below US$60tonne.
If long term averages are returned to then BCI, AGO and a few others will be out looking for whatever the flavour (commodity) of the month is at that time.
Why were BHPB and Rio the only WA players in iron ore for 40 years before 2000? Why did others get involved with iron after 2004? Where are all the rare earths explorers?
The history of mining speaks of identifying opportunities, riding the wave and being aware of the right time to move on quickly when the bottom falls out of the resource or the market.
