this is a ridiculous *** argument .... you need to demonstrate that negative gearing is a net positive for society (not just those that benefit by increasing their private wealth at a public cost) .... you can't just throw up some economics related graphs and say, "SEE !? the lines go up! UP I say! ... and the one that's supposed to be flat ... IS FLAT! " ..... therefore! negative gearing is fine.
in what way are those fantastic graphs of yours a direct result of negative gearing?
I mean, let me break down what I think you're saying....
1/ We currently have negative gearing
2/ These general graphs about the broader Australian economy are bloody good looking
THEREFORE!
3/ negative gearing is producing these fantastic looking graphs
THEREFORE
4/ If we abolish negative gearing the graphs will turn ugly
THEREFORE
5/ we must keep negative gearing
as I said ....
