    after abolishing negative gearing rental market tightened in sydney and adelaide(??) by 1 procentage point and that can probably be expained by some 'one off' event in those respective cities and the rest of the country didn't even notice...and sydney and adelaide returned back to normal in few months!

    some newspaper articles stated what you bulls keep 'banging on' but it was "paid for" journalism !

    real estate industry wanted to eat their own pants due to lessening of the traffic in their offices (investors stopped showing up)....

    ...no traffic = no commision = no earnings for RE agent !

    coupled with developers that were aiming at investors and given that pollies are always in the mood to vote a tax break for themselves it comes as no surprise that even mighty Keating had to buckle under the pressure of his labor unionists buddies !

    however, no economic effect whatsoever was felt by wider Australia with abolishing of negative gearing !
