I am not sure how many new builds Estelle has visited, but little maintence is not something that comes to mind. The quality of most new builds is so bad that many owners spend years fighting with the builder getting basic things fixed.
It is beyond me why anyone buys a new build. I wouldn't and haven't ever bought any property built before 1970.
