You could well look at depreciation but would you include that for all businesses as well ?
The largest part of depreciation would be for properties new or under five years old . The depreciation value drops off pretty quickly from there . It would be interesting to see the total numbers .
Here's an interesting article I found .
Twice as many people rent now as compared to 1981. The alltime peak was 1947 at 44%.
