    How many residential properties do you need to own before it is reasonable to argue you are running a residential property letting business (as opposed to passive investment)? If it becomes a business do the negative gearing rules drop away and business income rules apply?

    I genuinely don't know but would be interested in an answer. I'm guessing it might be more a case of fact and degree (i.e. how much time do you spend working on it a week etc.) but not sure.
