Didn't/Doesn't Joe Hockey's father own a real estate agency? Of course he will not support abolishing negative gearing on this alone!
He misinforms the people in order to push his own agenda, without hard facts.
Negative gearing should be restricted to new estate and new apartment buildings only. This at least deals with the argument of an incentive for investors to encourage new housing starts.
I also don't see the reason why your home is not subject to CGT upon sale? For what reason? Absolutely no reason why this occurs.
