Putting aside the plethora of international problems which have an impact one way or another on everybody on the planet, and just looking at the difficult issues that face us at home, why is it we end up with the politicians we have on both sides, as a rule, to attempt to navigate them?
    Is there much leadership there?
Who can we look to as someone with the intelligence, the leadership ability and the vision to solve the many difficult problems we face, without looking over his/her shoulders all the time to make sure their back is covered.
I don't see any Bob Hawkes or Paul Keatings or John Howards around, people who could in fact "lead" the country at this time.
