Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've always had the impression that instos with dedicated traders generally don't leave orders sitting 'at limit' in the market. In market 'at limit' orders are really mainly the domain of retail and smaller insto market-participants. So the market depth paints a very incomplete picture.
If our free float is indeed getting snaffled by an ETF, then those buy orders probably won't appear in the market depth, but that doesn't mean that they don't exist.
