My then girlfriend once had the cops come over to her share house one morning due to the 'suspicion' of drug use in the premises. They were particularly interested in the roof as a lot of noise apparently came from there at night (her bedroom was on the second floor).

They found nothing but it goes to show it doesn't take much of an allegation to get the cops involved.

Mind you it also does nothing for neighbourly harmony as nothing will get your back up faster than having the cops search your house because the neighbours are too gutless to knock on your door. We never did find out who it was though, probably just as well.

They will have more respect for you if you can talk to then face to face, calmly and reasonably. Being a frat house you want win all the battles but you may reduce it to an acceptable level.

If you hide behind the authorities they'll just try to annoy you more. Only do this if they are completely ignoring any reasonable requests for reducing the noise.
