Jack Hamar 1-13 Encounters Gas
Orchard Petroleum Limited (ASX; OPL) (Orchard) and Orchard Petroleum Inc. (OP Inc), awholly owned subsidiary of Orchard, are pleased to announce that the Jack Hamar 1-13 wellcompleted drilling to a depth of 5,210 feet. The depth of the well was reduced due to gas influx and technical issues affecting drilling operations, and an expectation that all important targets have been successfully penetrated.
Jack Hamar 1-13 has encountered multiple gas bearing reservoir zones and a significant testing program is planned for the well.
Steve Graves, Executive Chairman, said: “The number and quality of potential payzones, which exceeded Orchard’s predrill prognosis, will be carefully evaluated with appropriate testing and completion planning.”
Steve Graves further said, “the shallow gas play that has been targeted may extend across a large
portion of Orchard’s significant acreage position at South East Lost Hills.”
The shallow gas play is another step, similar to the shallow gas to be tested soon at Orchard’s South Belridge producing asset. These potential gas producing assets represent an important step toward Orchard establishing a diversified set of producing core properties while pursuing a broad drill-bit led strategy for reserve and revenue growth. A gas resource in an energy hungry state such as California would represent a valuable prize for Orchard Petroleum.
