I have seen this close up in a very big Aus company. When I finally got away after coping the abuse I was told in no uncertain terms to "do not use the exit interview to vent any issues " by the corporate bully that was my boss.
I did , as I was leaving. In my next job , I was able to bring real progress for the new company and myself. She on the other hand withered .
Do it , stand up, speak out, all they can do is take your job, staying there is futile.
