I think in my case its like beating down a dog to the point it cannot defend itself - and it was difficult to take and they piled work to the point I juggled putting out spot fires and watching my back all the time. Any opportunity they had to systematically undermine my performance they used including humiliating me infront of colleagues - a colleague who was confident able and respected copped it bad to a point she was completely left incapacitated they tore her self esteem to shreds - she left - its a case of a bully being too awful to keep yet to good to lose and they cover this persons back and create hell for anyone prepared to stand up to them or question their authority.

Not having the time or energy to keep a proper paper trail not having confidence to defend myself in writing over trivial accusations has made it impossible and unlikely to move forward on this through the proper channels.

Sometimes it would take a whole weekend to get over a working week and not to mention all the work I had to take home just to stay afloat.

Thanks everyone for sharing your advise and experience. Wish there was a lot more that could be done for people who experience and cop this sort of abuse at work.

Yes I will be getting counselling :)
