A really good trader once told me that "returns" are only one side of the coin.
In order to be a successful trader you need to understand the other side of the coin....analyse the risk...take the appropriate measures to mitigate it if necessary and only then will you have an understanding of the entire coin.
I ask you now Scratchy, to turn the coin.
