the "win" by Nestor in LA has had a lot of question marks against it right from the start. I've read a few articles where a gentleman from the LAPD, who seems to be very fond of Nestor, has pushed their barrow very strongly. The fat lady hasn't sung yet as there are still a couple of committees and the full council to give approval.
How can a company which has just borrowed $1.25million at 12% pa just to stay afloat have a hope of finding the cash to install the initial 50 systems that the city requires? Might be possible the way US investors have thrown money at this loss making company over the years but yikes!, what a risk.
To cap it all off the rumour is that Nestor "won" the contract selection at $4K fixed per approach per month, about $1.5K below the figure that is regarded as being reasonably profitable for the Californian dual camera requirements.
