But how could have Arabs accepted the partition plans?

Palestinian villages, one by one, were being attacked by groups of armed Jews who were very brutal. The purpose of their brutality was to terrify Palestinians in nearby villages so that they would abandon their homes and run away without putting up any fight. The same approach continued after 1948 thanks to Israel's first PM David Ben-Gurion. He never wanted to provide his subordinates with any written instructions to drive Palestinians out in fear (and he is on record to have done so) that this would be discovered one day.

Also, leading to 15 May 1948 the Palestinians had been disarmed by the British - no longer had any firearms. Even a possession of a small knife would have landed a Palestinian in jail. At the same time, the British allowed Jews to buy all sorts of arms. And they did so, not just riffles but also mortars and other.

Palestinians were not really able to fight the Jews. They still had a few riffles here and there but that was nothing compared to what the Jews had.

To cut the long story short, many thousands of Palestinians had been driven out leaving behind their homes, farms, property, etc. and how would one have expected them to agree to some partition?
