New SmartVoice suite of products integrates with existing telephone systems to help SME’s cut costs and boost ROI.

NetComm, a leading Australian provider of communications products and solutions, has announced the launch of a first to market range of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) products designed for the SME market – SmartVoice.

The NetComm SmartVoice range – built to meet the needs of the small to medium business market – uses proven technology to integrate directly with existing telephone systems to deliver IP Telephony and significant call savings.

“Awareness of VoIP is growing rapidly among small business owners but uptake has been inhibited by their reluctance to take a risk on untested technology,” said David Stewart, Managing Director of NetComm. “NetComm has removed this risk factor by delivering a suite of products that demystify VoIP technology and offer business owners a solution that is flexible, cost-effective and easy-to-use – using technology that meets local requirements and conditions.”

“The major benefit of the NetComm’s SmartVoice VoIP gateway products is that a business is not burdened with the expense and annoyance of having to replace its existing telephone infrastructure in order to reap the many benefits of VoIP,” he said.

“For end users the transition to VoIP is transparent, they still use the same standard phone handsets that they are familiar with using and they do not need to change their dialing habits. They simply use the phone the same way that they always have and the gateway does the least cost routing,” commented Stewart.

Approximately 90 percent of the phone systems sold to the SME / branch office market, even today, are analogue phone systems (PBX). These systems are generally very reliable and cost effective to install. The gateways role is to utilise these proven business tools and facilitate major cost reductions in businesses communications costs” he said.

The SmartVoice range integrates with an existing analogue phone system . All that is needed is a broadband internet connection and an account with an Internet Telephony Service Provider – adding VoIP and its associated costs savings without having to replace an entire phone system.

NetComm’s SmartVoice range offers businesses real flexibility. The product range incorporates 4-port and 8-port VoIP gateways with a mixture of FXS (VoIP) and FXO (PSTN) port configurations.

    The product range includes V404 (4FXO), V422 (2FSX/2FXO), V431 (3FXS/1FXO), V440 (4FXS), V808 (8FXO, V880 (8FXS).

The SmartVoice series has a unique call hunting function, applying to FXS and/or FXO ports, allowing an incoming VoIP call to search for an available port to connect to. If a port is busy it will try port two and so on, then pass the call to the PBX.

SmartVoice represents a risk-free way to incorporate VoIP/Internet Telephony (IP) into a business. If the broadband or IP service is experiencing problems, the phones simply fall back to standard the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) functionality and won’t compromise the ability to make and receive phone calls.

Products in the NetComm SmartVoice 400 series and 800 series (V404, V422, V431, V440, V808, V862, V880) are available now through selected product stockists nationally. The 400 series are priced at $726 (inc. GST) each and the 800 series are priced at $1,430 (inc. GST) each.
