Netflix Launch Aus & NZ Q2 2015

"Netflix has admitted its deep interest in Australia and New Zealand, increasing expectations that the US video streaming giant will launch Down Under in 2015.

Speaking in a Q&A at the MIPCOM global television market in Cannes, Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos described both countries as “very attractive territories that are English speaking and love US content”.

Australian industry sources at MIPCOM believe that Netflix is gearing up to launch simultaneously in both countries in the second quarter of 2015."


And with a VPN Aussies and Kiwis will be able to subscribe locally to Netflix Aus or NZ but also enjoy all US content as well or content anywhere else Netflix has launched. Because Netflix determines location based on your IP address not by location of your Netflix Subscription.

If QFX doesn't fold before then due to its dire financial state, fundamentally it's all over anyway. Simply can't compete against a global multi billion dollar company with a 3bn per year content budget and who knows how many millions they will be able to spend on marketing and promotions in Aus and NZ.
