Pilot BlueGEN fuel cell coupled to ENKI mini-digester:

The Nijmegen company ENKI Energy produces a mini digester that can convert waste into biogas. Biogas from catering waste can then be reused for cooking or for example to run a natural gas powered car.

The fuel cell of the BlueGEN Company (CFU) is a very efficient way of turning natural gas into hydrogen and then into heat and electricity. It produces efficiently heat and electricity for the needs of buildings. However, the source is still fossil fuel (natural gas).

When the biogas from the ENKI digester is coupled to the fuel cell BlueGEN you get fully sustainable energy: heat and electricity can be produced at a very effcient, quiet and clean way from for example kitchen waste.

ENKI and BlueGen to jointly set up an experiment to see how the coupling of these two innovative techniques is feasible. For this cooperation with Sanadome, CWZ Nijmegen and a catering firm. For this pilot funding is currently being sought.
