Consolidation on its own won't push the SP up it is the expectation that a deal is following is what is driving the price action. I don't think anyone is certain when that announcement will be made but I am guessing it will be sometime soon. Generally, after such a strong run I would expect some profit taking, it is only natural but if the market gets a whiff that the deal is progressing the buyers will be back in a heartbeat and we all know what that means.
