That is the impression I get but surely it can't be that simple - surely there is some method behind that figure.
I also think that discussions around people's time horizon's are valid but they are distinct and should not factor in the objective value of a company and a fair TO price. Everyone will have a different price point at which they are satisfied but the objective value is what I am concerned with and I agree with KJK that JP and the board have an obligation to extract maximum value for shareholders, balancing the multitude of factors.
To that end, for those that are satisfied with a TO at $50, is that an objective valuation and if so, how did you come to that conclusion?
