Gerry's job as CBO isnt just about securing deals, he's effectively acting as chief operating officer making sure all the mechanics of the business are operating together as well as looking for new business opportunities which include deals.
Jon can't be expected to wear several hats, his focus is on the strategic direction of the company. In a company this lean he needs a right hand man to execute these duties. So I'm sure that whatever Neuren has planned, Gerry is right in the middle of it. If Neuren is drawing up Plan B designs on marketing and sales for a potential self distribution in the US, Gerry will be spearheading that effort eg modelling scenarios or having preliminary talks with potential executives to man the US operation.
We are at a point in time where decisions have to be made about the path Neuren takes of which business expertise and organisational skills are required. Jon needs help, Gerry has a dual role in business development and subsequent operations which may evolve to hiring a COO separately. But for now if Gerry isnt making deals then he's earning his keep managing the operations.
