If shares in a company couldn’t be bought or sold, there would be no liquidity and little chance for a start up to raise capital. Investors generally wouldn’t invest if there were no way to sell and realise profits. So I believe shareholders so have a critical role in publicly listed companies, at the very least they keep the system fluid.
Owning Neuren shares does make some degree of impact and I don’t see a problem with being proud of investing in a company that improves people’s lives.
But, we’re all in this to make money in the end and I’m under no illusion about my investment having a direct link with outcomes.
