Head over heart
Call us sentimental, but after 10 years as a chairman you'd reasonably expect to retire with a warm glow at the AGM. Not so for the heart device maker Ventracor, which appears to have shown a distinct lack of heart given the rather sudden departure of John Massey.
Sure, Massey had memorable moments in his decade at the helm, including the line a few years back that "whether the patient lives or not isn't the issue, although of course we hope he does".
Massey was out the door yesterday. And with the boss, Peter Crosby, selling a chunk of his stake last week to cover a few tax matters, we can only hope there were a few coins left over for a parting present.
