Never buy a unit especially not a high rise

Can't understand why anyone would ever buy a residential unit (especially a high rise) over a free standing house if they had the choice.

You pay a high price for a depreciating or lower growth asset with high ongoing overheads, no control, high risk of catching covid and other diseases, poor quality lifestyle, and potential total loss as a result of an uninsurable event - the negatives are never ending.

Feel sorry for this guy but a couple of minutes away he could have bought a house on a 1000m2 block for 1/2 the price and if he had a leak in the roof, had it fixed for at most a few k.
