I can dine out on the last special dividend for quite a while. An indication of how effective the dividend policy it was, is those funds came out when IGO's SP was a lot higher*. If one held it and now re-invests it, it makes for a very sensible use of capital.
* The IGO SP, got after boost from those, especially fund managers, attracted to it, taking it as enhanced income. The effect of the special dividend reducing the cost base seems less important given the current SP.
All IMVHO.
