With regards investing overseas/US it is better to open a USD account with an online broker to avoid forex issues using an Australian version on the same investment, IMO. I use Charles Schwab, my USD investment are measured in USD only, except at tax time.
I have been watching Vivek Ramaswamy's Strive with interest. Index funds whose contact with investee companies will be only how can they make better goods and services, and hence profits for shareholders. Vivek makes an interesting point about the abstraction that exists where the fund manager is huge, somehow represents themselves, and not the unit holders, which may be numerous layers deeper.
