AGL is doing what I would do in the face of opposition from the fed govt (ie shutting up shop). Consequence could be gas prices rises and supplies falling short over time and flow on to investors who will not invest.

Federal goverment is not thinking two moves ahead just like they did with live cattle export. There are ways to take short term action to mitigate issues and put long term plans in place without shutting down industries.
