Wasn't all that toxic US sub-prime debt rated at AAA, even lower risk, theoretically at least.
Just a shame, S&P, Moodys et all don't understand correlation models...........
As to the ANZ prefs, probably a good investment. Suspect that as the economy improves the risk premium on banking debt will start reducing and should see some reasonable capital gains on these. Obviously not relevant if you hold until call date.
