If we look at the 3 most advanced projects in Malawi GBE who have had a mining license ready to be signed off on for 3 years AT COMPLETION OF FEASIBILITY STUDY.
MKANGO have not completed their feasibility study.
SVM also have nor completed their feasibility study.
My only reasoning can be the uncertainty that remains in lieu of the long awaited mines and minerals bill that the govt has continued to state it will be done for well over a year now - probably close to 2 years. It is a crucial piece of legislation - SVM also presumed it would be in place as stated in the last sitting of Parliament 3 months ago.
The initial study released by SVM stated taxes - royalties etc but that is yet to be confirmed. Like the mou with logistics.
As Malawi media reports and all civil organizations Malawi needs political will - not continued delays and uncertainty to keep the door open to further corruption in the mining industry.
SVM clearly set ambitious time frame. Julian Stephens and Krueger have been in Malawi a very long time and should have known better.
Still I'm very upbeat. Short time ago some were posting as I was - thank you for the cheap shares - I still am.
I worked on a BHP project in Ravensthorpe years ago. 2 years over time and 600 million over budget. One year later put on care and maintenance - then sold off for a song. Anything is possible whether in Australia - Malawi or Laos that I mentioned previously. Just need to keep optimistic.
